Chaygaon, August 1: Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika today visited erosion-hit areas in Kamrup district. Hazarika visited recently completed erosion prevention works of about one kilometre in the Gumi Panikhaiti area under Kamrup district at a cost of around Rs 11.15 crore. The minister also examined the 23-kilometer-long road cum embankment along the banks of the Brahmaputra. The minister directed the officials concerned to maintain the quality of the erosion protection works and expressed his satisfaction over the departmental work towards the erosion prevention measures under Chhaygaon and Palashbari constituencies from this area. The minister was accompanied by MLA of Palasbari constituency, Hemanga Thakuria, MLA of Chaygaon constituency, Rekibuddin Ahmed, officials of Water Resource department, among others. Later, talking to the media persons, Hazarika said that no corruption and anomalies in the erosion protection works would be tolerated.
