Biswanath Chariali, July 13: A forest investigation team managed to apprehend two tiger poachers from Itakhola area with support from the villagers and Sejusa based NGO on Wednesday evening in connection with tiger poaching. The apprehended poachers were identified as Berag Daimary and Ghan Basumatary residents of Maibongpur, Balijuri and Aksiguri under Itakhola outpost respectively. It is to be mentioned here that a Bengal tiger was translocated to Nameri National Park from Umananda which was killed months back and the skin and bones were taken away by the poachers. Since then the poachers were untraceable. Based on secret information, a team of foresters conducted a search operation in a Bolero and recovered skin of the tiger, bones and a hand made rifle from their possession. Police investigation is on.
