Nagaon, July 26: Based on a secret tip off, the special operation team of Nagaon police led by Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ) Supratibhlal Boruah conducted a massive raid at the residence of one Amir Hussain at Nabin Nagar near Dhing Gate in the town late last evening during which police seized 1531 numbers of codeine based 100ml syrup bottles and 39,252 Nitrazepam tablets from the house. Sources claimed that the worth of the seized syrup bottles as well as other tablets would be more than Rs 2.5 crore in the market. Police immediately arrested three persons including a woman in this regard. The arrested persons have been identified as Amir Hussain, Afraz Hussain and Anowara Begum and further investigation is on, sources said, adding that the arrested Amir Hussain is a medical representative and working at a multinational company here.
