Naba Kr. Bharali selected for National Cultural fellowship

Staff Reporter, Lakhimpur: Naba Kumar Bharali, a Young Media and Cultural Activist has working in the North East region and Son of poor cultivator, Lalit Bharali & School Cook Junti Bharali from Jalbhari Gaon under Dhakuakhana subdivision of Lakhimpur district, Assam got a prestigious National Cultural Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, as per the notification out on June 19. His named was announced after a declaration of the result of the meeting of Expert Committee held during January 31 last for its Junior Fellowship (Research Oriented) under the Scheme of Award of Junior Fellowship to Outstanding Persons in the Fields of Culture, has been sponsored by Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), New Delhi in the Category of New Areas: Cultural Economics for the year of 2020-21 along with 199 Scholars /Artistes of this Country. His subject topic titled "Golden Muga Silk Culture of Assam: A study on Cultural Attributes and on Indigenous Knowledge among the ethnic tribes in Dhakuakhana (Habung) area" under the guidance of Dr. Prashanna Gogoi, who is a Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee & Ethnomusicologist, Director, NEZCC & under Supervision of Jitul Saikia, Eminent Scholar & Muga Silk Expert and Director Will Silk Society NE, Lakhimpur. The CCRT is implementing the scheme titled “The Fellowship Scheme for the Award of Fellowship to outstanding persons in the Field of Culture ''. Under this Scheme 200 each of Fellows are selected every year. Awardees are paid grant money @ ₹ 10,000/- per month respectively for a period of two years. The focus of this scheme is on “in-depth study/research” in various facets of culture. These include new emerging areas of Cultural Studies. He has been working in the field of Media and Culture for the last 12 years & got a recognition card from Janasangyog, Govt of Assam as a Journalist. Now he is working as Media Coordinator under North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) at Shilpgram, Guwahati. He deals with Folklore, Folk Arts & Culture & Folk Media of the North East region. He has been conducting his own Independent research & documentation project of some Vanishing and Dying Artforms and Festival.
