Symposium on the occasion of birth anniversary of Lachit Borphukan held at LTK College

Staff Reporter, North Lakhimpur, November 22: Under the ageis of North Lakhimpur's Lakhimpur Telahi Kamalabori (LTK) College teachers' unit and in association with Lakhimpur district administration, a symposium was held on the occasion of 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Borphukan at the college auditorium today. In the symposium, started with the poem recitation by Bhaskarjit Borah, students of LTK College and neighbouring educational institutions were present. Lakhimpur DC Sumit Sattawan inaugurated the symposium. In his speech, the DC welcomed the plans of the government to take forward a great warrior like Lachit Borphukan to the national level. The Principal of LTK College Dr. Bubul Kumar Saikia explained the significance of the Lachit Divas. Professors of LTK College Bidyut Chutiya, Dr. Binita Saharia, Biju Kumar Sonowal,Diganta Saikia and Dr. Randip Borah participated in the event as resource persons. The resource persons highlighted various aspects of the life and works of Lachit Borphukan such as his heroism, childhood, post,fame,strategy of war and relevance of Lachit in present time. The event was anchored by the professor of History department Lichamoni Baruah Gogoi. President of teachers' unit Champa Tamuli offered vote of thanks.
