National Press Day Celebration at Margherita

Staff Reporter, Tinsukia, November 16: Along with the rest of the country, the National Press Day was organized today by the Margherita Sub- Divisional Civil administration and O/o SDIPRO, Margherita at the conference hall of the O/o SDO(C), Margherita.Smt. Preeti Kumari, IAS, addressed the media fraternity and emphasized on the role of media in democracy and hoped that the administration and Media will cooperate for the common benefit of the Sub-Division. Since, this year’s theme for the National Press Day was “Media in Nation building”, Senior Journalists Shri. Rishi Das, Shri. Rana Jyoti Neog and many other eminent media persons presented their views on the subject . It is also to be mentioned that the civil administration and O/o SDIPRO, Margherita in association with the Margherita College also organised a Sub- Divisional Inter- College Debate competition on this year’s theme at Margherita College earlier today. Samar Rimal of Margherita College, Naweli Dutta and Anwesha Choudhury of Digboi College were adjudged 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. The winners of the competition were felicitated during the Press Day Celebration today. Apart from officials from the administration the event was attended by all the esteemed Media Persons of the region and few students from Digboi and Margherita College.
