Hojai, November 16:Under the aegis of Assam State Journalist Union, Hojai District Unit of Assam State Journalist Union celebrated National Press Day with day-long activities at Nilbagan Model Higher Secondary School in Nilbagan under Hojai District on Wednesday. At the very outset, the flag of the union was hoisted by Kafiluddin Barbhuyan, President, ASJU, Hojai District Unit followed by shahid tarpan. Then, the deliberation cum felicitation session was inaugurated by Abdul Kadir,publicity secretary, ASJU,State. Dr. Indrajeet Bezbaruah, Principal, Samaguri College graced the occasion as chief guest, Gurmil Singh,editor,Kalongpar graced as guest of honour, Dr. Khasrul Islam,Director, Ajmal Foundation; Dr. Hasinus Sultan, associate professor, Haji Anfar Ali College,Daboka;Pradip Deka,Senior Journalist and many other eminent personalities were present as distinguished guests. On this occasion, five personalities of Hojai District were felicitated with certificate,kherai,japi and gomcha for their enormous contributions in their respective field, namely., Dr. Badrul Haque, physician; Faiz Mahmud Barbhuyan, Principal, Nilbagan Model Higher School; Anwar Hussain, noted social worker; Sahbuddin Majumdar, social worker and Pradip Deka, Organizational Secretary, ASJU, State. Speaking as the Chief Guest, Dr. Indrajeet Bezbaruah said the media profession is full of challenges with a lot of complexities and hard work but the media persons don't get the suitable recognition for their hard work. He further said to be a good journalist one must have command over the respective language in which he or she wants to do reporting. He further led detailed deliberation on various other factors of journalism. Meanwhile, the other guests also spoke on the occasion and kept their views on journalism and the role of media in the present time. After that, a yearly magazine of Hojai unit viz., Jamuna edited by Senior journalist Jamiruddin Talukdar was unveiled. Basit Alom Choudhary, State executive,Assam State Journalist Union, senior journalist Anjan Paul,Ramesh Mundra, Shiv Dayal Singh were also present. The meeting was anchored by Jamiruddin Talukdar and presided over by Kafiluddin Barbhuyan.
