North Lakhimpur, November 26: The Constitution Day was observed in Lakhimpur Commerce College(LCC), North Lakhimpur today with calls to safeguard the rights of people enshrined in it. A meeting was organized for that occasion by the Political Science department and NSS unit of the college in association Nehru Yuva Kendra,North Lakhimpur. The objective of the meeting was explained by Sujata Bhowmik, District Youth Officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra,North Lakhimpur. The welcome address of the meeting was delivered by Dr. Lohit Hazarika, the Principal of the college. Ajit Nath, advocate, North Lakhimpur Bar Association attended the meeting as the appointed speaker. A speech was also delivered on Intensive Volunteer Enrollment Programme (IVEP) by Rupam Jyoti Chetia of Nehru Yuva Kendra,North Lakhimpur. A quiz competition on Constitution of India for students was conducted by Prof. K.N. Dutta of Political Science in that function. Volunteers from District Legal Service Association-Lakhimpur and the members of NSS, Lakhimpur Commerce College read out the Preamble of the constitution in that meeting. Prof. P.L. Das, programme officer of NSS, Lakhimpur Commerce College also attended the function. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Bitu Gogoi of Nehru Yuva Kendra,North Lakhimpur.
