Staff Reporter, TinsukiaOctober 31: A “UNITY RUN” was organised today by the Sub-Divisional (Civil) administration, Margherita from War Memorial, Digboi to Jubilee Hall, Digboi to commemorate the “National Unity Day”(Rashtrita Ekta Diwas), the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Palash Rajkumar Ahom, ADC i/c, Margherita addressed the august gathering and paid rich tributes to the Iron Man of India today. He also administered the Rashtriya Ekta Pledge on the occasion. The Unity Run was flagged off by Colonel John Singha, Commanding Officer, 18th Garhwal Regiment, Digboi. Apart from civil administrative officials and staff, students from NSS Digboi College Unit and NCC Wing Digboi Women’s College, Officers and Jawans from C-68 CRPF Digboi, 18th Garhwal Regiment Digboi, Central Industrial Security Force, Digboi and media persons also took part enthusiastically in the run today.It is worth mentioning that this year the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports have decided to organise 75,000 Unity Runs spanning across 750 districts of our country involving people from all sections of society. This initiative has been undertaken to spread the message of national unity and spirit of Rashtriya Ekta and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav throughout the country.
