North Lakhimpur, October 22: Under the aegis of youth and eco-club of Garchiga Tribal Higher Secondary School, North Lakhimpur, an awareness programme on health and hygiene was held at the school today. On this occasion, a meeting was organized at the school auditorium under the presidentship of the principal of the school Mainul Hoque. The objective of the meeting was explained by the nodal teacher of the youth and eco-club of the school Bhupen Hazarika. Attended in the event as the appointed speaker Dr. Pabitra Roy, MOIO, Garchiga State Dispensary suggested the students to obey several rules, including regular exercise to maintain health and hygiene. He specifically urged the female students to give utmost importance in respect of health and hygiene during the time of menstruation. "Never be ashamed of or fear the process of menstruation. A girl should not be suggested to eat selectively during the periods and, as a result of this, the girl faces mental harassment at that particular period of time. So we should have to teach the guardians about the various aspects of health and hygiene during periods." Dr. Roy said to the female students.
