Colonel OP Pandey interacted with NCC cadets

Staff Reporter, Biswanath Chariali, October 21: Colonel OP Pandey, the commanding officer of 5 Assam Battalion NCC, Tezpur visited Dakhin Nagsankar High School, here today and interacted with NCC cadets and students of the school as well. Colonel Pandey hoisted the NCC flag which was followed by a March Past by the cadets. The interaction session began with Ballav Chapagain, headmaster of the school in the chair, held in the conference hall. ANO (Associate NCC Officer) Anjan Baskota welcomed the commanding officer with a gamocha and a sarai. Addressing the cadets, Colonel Pandey talked about the role of NCC cadets in the nation building process. He provided basic information about how to join the NDA (National Defence Academy), IMA (Indian Military Academy), OTA (Officer Training Academy) and beside other arm forces. He focused his lecture on character building and personality development programmes. Colonel Pandey also highlighted about the Agniveer scheme launched by the central government, it's salient features and benefits of the scheme at the same time. NCC cadets performed some cultural activities before the interactive session. The session was attended by Chandan Upadhyaya, president of School Management and Development Committee (SMDC), Chandra Kanta Sarma, retired founder headmaster of the school, Gopal Mandal, Assam Police Personal, teachers, members of SMDC, guardians, ex-students along with other dignitaries. The session ended with the national anthem. All the proceedings of the session were conducted by Mina Thapa, assistant teacher of Dakhin Nagsankar High School.
