APDCL, seized over 35 pre-paid electric digital meters at 'Royal Awas' at Nagaon

Bureau Report, Nagaon, October 1: Special squad led by CEO Bijoy Sankar Boruah, CEO, APDCL, Nagaon seized over 35 pre-paid electric digital meters for stealing electric power by bypassing its power connection for over long at Royal Awas, a deluxe apartment on Friday here. Sources claimed that the consumers of the apartment did not recharge the power tariff for over months for which the department concerned had to doubt in this regard. Based on that doubt, the squad led by CEO Bijoy Sankar Boruah, carried out a sudden operation at the sophisticated apartment today here and during the drive, the squad detected 35 such tempered pre-paid electric digital meters, sources from the department concerned said, adding that the experts from APDCL, Nagaon were examining all those seized digital meters and among 35 pre-paid electric digital meters, the experts confirmed 29 manipulated electric digital meters till the time of filing this report. The experts from APDCL, Nagaon are still examining the other 7 and likely to check hundred more power connections in the sophisticated apartment tomorrow, sources said. Sources claimed that it was the biggest power theft in the district in which the power thieves used specific developed skills in stealing electric power.
