Guwahati, September 16: Victor Das who was arrested for allegedly spreading rumours of corruption in the recently held direct recruitment exams by the state government was granted temporary bail by the Gauhati High Court today. Victor Das, the owner of a Guwahati-based coaching institute alleged that a ring was demanding bribes for jobs in the recently held direct recruitment exams in grade III and IV government posts. Later, he was summoned to the Panbazar police station, where he was questioned on his serious allegations. He was arrested on September 9 last. Victor Das made these explosive allegations in a tweet on Twitter. However, police said that after questioning Das, he was unable to produce any pertinent evidence to back the claims he had made on social media. According to DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, Victor Das was unable to provide reliable information on the matter and has misinterpreted the facts. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also reacted to Das' allegations and said that Victor Das has failed to prove his claims, and if people make random allegations, it would be impossible to conduct examinations in Assam.
