USTM organised talk on Number Theory

Staff Reporter, Guwahati, September 29: The Department of Mathematics, University of Science and Technology Meghalaya organized an orientation program on “Number Theory Enhancing Quality Application” for the students yesterday. Professor Anupam Saikia, senior faculty of the Department of Mathematics, IIT Guwahati was the resource person for the program. Addressing the students, Professor Anupam Saikia spoke on the development of Number Theory starting from prehistoric ages to the modern age and highlighted the importance of Elliptic Curves on Cryptography. He also suggested the students emphasize continuous practice along with study. The talk was followed by an enthusiastic interactive session. Earlier, the welcome address was made by Prof. Prabin Das, HoD, Department of Mathematics, USTM while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Anupam Dutta, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, USTM.
