Nagaon, September 23: The Department of Economics, Nowgong College (Autonomous) in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell and Indian Council of Social Science and Research (ICSSR) organized a two day long national level seminar on 'Aatma Nirbhor Bharat : Uttar Pub Bharat Barshat Aag Barhi Juwar Sujug aru Pratyahvan' from today onwards here at the college premises. Dr Mridul Hazarika, vice chancellor of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev Vishwavidyalaya, ceremonially inaugurated the seminar. Vice principal and also the Head of the Department, Department of Economics, Nowgong College, Banti Neog delivered the welcome address while Dr Dimple Dekaraja anchored the inaugural session of the seminar. Professor Kumal Singha, Department of Economics, Sikkim University and Ratul Mahanta, noted scholar and professor, Department of Economics, Gauhati University, attended the seminar as resource persons. Besides, Bhagirathi Panda, Regional Director of ICSSR was present in the programme as chief keynote speaker. Over 50 dignitaries as well as scholars and students from various higher educational institutions across the country participated in the seminar. Dr Mridul Hazarika, vice chancellor of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev Vishwavidyalaya, while addressing the occasion, said that people would be able to be self-reliant only when people could cherish an innovative and creative mind in themselves. Senior professor, Department of Economics, Nowgong College and former president of All Assam College Teachers' Association Biswajit Bhuyan cast the vote of thanks at the end, a release added.
