Guwahati Refinery observes World Rhino Day

Staff Reporter, Guwahati, September 22: Guwahati Refinery (GR) observed World Rhino Day on September 22 at Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary. In the program, a total of 134 forest guards of the Sanctuary were felicitated by GR who have been instrumental in protecting the Rhinos which is currently home to 107 no.s of world famous One-horned Indian Rhinoceros which is the highest in the world alongside maintaining the record of zero cases of poaching since the year 2014. In the program, emphasis was laid on adopting various strategic and up to date measures for further bolstering the cause of protection of the Rhinos while appreciating the role of the forest guards and the locals in the protection of the endangered species. It is to be mentioned that Indian Oil Corporation Limited launched its official brand mascot 'IndianOil Rhino' on 1st September 2021 during the 62nd IndianOil Day celebrations and as such it has been espousing the cause of the Great Indian Rhino and create awareness about this majestic dweller of Indian forests through its various strategic moves. The program was attended by Joyshree Naiding, IFS, DFO, Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, Nayanjyoti Das, Range Officer, Anita Shrivastava, Chief General Manager (Corporate Communications, CSR & Hindi), Refinery Headquarter, New Delhi, PK Basumatary, Chief General Manager (Technical), Guwahati Refinery, H Bhattacharyya, Chief General Manager(HR) and other officials.
