Dr. Bhupen Hazarika's 96th Birth Anniversary celebrated in Chirang

Staff Reporter, Chirang, September 8: Bharat Ratna, Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika's 96th birth Day is celebrated in Basugaon along with other places. A lamp was lit and garlanded in front of Sudhakantha Dr Bhupen Hazarika statue located in front of Basugaon Higher Secondary School this morning under the initiative of Basugaon Dr Bhupen Hazarika Smriti Sanrakshan Samiti. One of the members of the Smriti Sanrakshan Samiti and eminent personalities Umesh Adhikari and Dilip Kumar Rai, Vice President of Dr Bhupen Hazarika Smriti Sanrakshan Samiti and eminent social activist Pabitra Kumar Roy laid the wreath. On the occasion Pabitra Kumar Roy delivered a brief speech on the life work of world renowned Sudhakantha Dr Bhupen Hazarika. Young poet and litterateur Jeetjyoti Patgiri recited a poem on Dr Bhupen Hazarika. It is pertinent to mention here that two eminent elders of Basugaon were felicitated to mark the birth day of Dr Bhupen Hazarika. Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Smriti Sanrakshan Samiti President Amrit Patgiri, able to receive the Pramod Chandra Brahma Sahitya Puraskar on September 5 and eminent businessman Birendra Chandra De alias Veeru Dey were felicitated by Phulam Gamosa. Umesh Adhikari, Dilip Kumar Rai, Karendra Chandra Das, Upen Roy, Swareswati Aich Sarkar, Sailen Das, Tapan Das, Bhrigu Muni Roy etc. were present at the felicitation ceremony led by eminent personalities Pabitra Kumar Roy.
