Udalguri, September 16: Nandeswar Daimari, a writer with a difference was awarded by the BTR government with the prestigious literary award for his contribution to literature. The award consists of Rs. 2 Lakhs, a replica and an aronai. The award was conferred by Jayanta Malla Barua the Assam minister in the presence of BTR Chief Pramod Boro. BTR government has also awarded Amrit Narayan Patgiri simultaneously for his contribution to Assamese literature. This was the first instance of awarding other than Bodo writers by the BTR government. Nandeswar Daimari has authored Manjubala Devi (Novel), Thangnaini Daoha (Short Stories), Boxing (Short Stories), Abe Nenai Dalanga Baigrebnaiso (Short Stories), Hadanni Fanzari (Short Stories), Borbad (Short Stories), Nareshar Pora Bhupen Hazarikaloi (Biographies), Prasongik Prosonga (Essays), and Jiu Safarni Dakhon (Short Stories). He writes in Bodo and Assamese. He is known for his heart touching descriptions in his stories. He received Short Story Award from Dainik Asom in 1971, Someswari Literary Award in 1995, Mangalchandi Brahma literary award in 2007, Martyr Fordanna Daimari award in 2018, Sukumar Literary award in 2019. He was also awarded best teacher award by Assam Government in 2009 and literary pension by Assam government from 2020. He was the Secretary and President of Darrang district Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Secretary of Bodo Writers Academy. His stories were translated into Nepali, Hindi, English, Assamese and Kannada.
