VHP celebrates its 58th foundation & Krishna Janmashtami

Bureau Report, Nagaon, August 19: Nagaon district body of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today observed its 58th foundation day and also celebrated Sri Sri Krishna Janmashtami here at Nagaon Krishna Ram Shiva temple campus with a day-long programme. The programme was initiated with unfurling the 'Dharmadharja' by Pradeep Kumar Bora, president of district committee of Vishwa Hindu Parishad in the morning following which a religious procession on motorcycles by carrying the holy book - 'Maha Bhagawat' was also taken out throughout the small town. The religious rally was ceremonially flagged off by Rekha Sarma, an octogenarian and former dedicated activist of Vishwa Hindu Parishad. Thousands of members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad from the district participated in the religious procession. A religious meeting was also organized later at Nagaon Krishna Ram Shiva temple campus. Devananda Deb Goswami, satradhikar, Sri Sri Naruwa Satra, Batadroba was present in the meeting as the chief guest while Brajajyoti Sarma, joint secretary, Viswa Hindu Parishad, North East Region graced the occasion as a special analyser of the topic. Brajen Kakoti, RSS activist delivered the welcome address. Earlier, a competition among children with costume of Lord Krishna was also conducted by the organizing committee too.
