Chirang, August 8: On the eve of india's 75th Independence Day celebrations, the Basugaon Municipality of Chirang district, along with different parts of the country, which has collaborated with the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, also started the pre celebrations through various competitive programs. Hundreds of participants participated in Drawing competition, essay writing competition, music and dance competitions in two categories. It may be recalled that the programme was inaugurated by Sadhan Mandal, President, Basugaon Municipality and Mwikhong Basumatary, Vice President, Basugaon Municipal Board. Ward Commissioners of the four wards of Basugaon as well as the officials of the municipal Board co-operated fully in the event. Bhaskar Mandal and Rintu Sarkar were the judges of the Drawing competition, Bishal Paul as judge of the essay writing competition, eminent singer Ajit Kumar Nandi and Tushar Kanti Saha as the judge of the music competition and Nabanita Dey and Dhimanjyoti Roy as judges of the dance competition. It is to be noted that a total of four-day programs were held by The Basugaon Municipality through various competitions on August 8, Various Competitions on August 10, Kite Festival and prize distribution on August 13, as well as independence day celebrations on August 15. Apart from this, on the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Basugaon Municipal Authority has requested the people of Basugaon to hoist the national flag from house to house.
