Tinsukia, August 10: Villagers in Pengeri Tekeri Dubagaon, bordering Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, are now running out of sleep due to fear of wild elephants.In Tekeri Dubagaon village under the Khatangpani forest department office under Digboi forest division, wild elephants have created terror at night.On Monday night too, wild elephants ransacked many houses in the village.Wild elephants ransacked the houses of Bhavesh Maran, Sanju Maran and Pooja Maran in the area and also damaged food items stored in the house.
The villagers alleged that the forest department has not taken any action to stop the menace of wild elephants despite several reports to the forest department about the menace of wild elephants.Locals people said several men in the area have already lost their lives in wild elephant attacks.Even after this, the forest department is silent, as if the department has nothing to do. The villagers have demanded the government and the forest department to take steps to curb the menace of wild elephants at the earliest.
