Tinsukia, July 15: The second pure drinking water supply scheme constructed by Jal Jeevan Mission for around Rs 82 lakh under Ledu Colliery village panchayat of Margherita Vidhan Sabha constituency no. 124 was inaugurated on Thursday.Tinsukia district collector Narsing Pawar was the chief guest at the function and inaugurated the event.The Deputy Commissioner expressed the public-oriented behaviour of the Government of India at the event attended by Jyoti Krishna Mahanta, Executive Engineer, Tinsukia Division, Department of Public Health Technical.He said there is a need to consume drinking water in the country to maintain good health and disease free.Addressing the meeting, Jagun Zilla Parishad member Bodh Prakash Upadhyay said that the responsibility of the people is to use these schemes properly by 2024 to provide clean drinking water to all the people of the country. Speaking at the meeting senior journalist Ranajoti Neog said that the people have to nurture beautifully designed schemes like their own children.Neog openly praised contractor Kailash Gupta for building this project under Jal Jeevan Mission (screens) in a beautiful way. The water supply scheme of Margherita Public Health Technical Department under the Jal Jeevan Mission of the Government of India covers about 150 families in the area.Under the Jal Jeevan Mission of the Government of India, every household is expected to get clean drinking water across India as well as in Assam by 2024.The event was attended by Public Health Technical Department Officer Dhruvjoti Borthakur, Nisiman Kowar, Bargolai Zilla Parishad member Dibakar Thakur, Ledu Colliery village Panchayat elected President Santoshi Mura, Lekhapani Village Panchayat Councillor Nabo Dutta and many other dignitaries.
