LTK College donates books to Lakhimpur jail

Staff Reporter, North Lakhimpur, July 25: Lakhimpur Telahi Kamalaboria (LTK) College donated two hundred books along with a book-self to the North Lakhimpur district jail on Sunday. The ceremony held on this occasion was started by a chorus sung by the prisoners of the jail. Inaugurating the ceremony, the principal of LTK College Dr. Bubul Kumar Saikia wished that the prisoners might be proceeded again to the life of mainstream by developing strongly in intellectual aspect. The chief guest of the ceremony, eminent educationist Dr. Mukunda Rajbonshi delivered a thoughtful lecture while the jailor of North Lakhimpur jail Tarun Sonowal highlighted on the prison life from Mahatma Gandhi to Nelson Mandela, the great personalities of history. The jailor also praised the college authority and the teachers for taking such an exceptional step. Several prisoners performed songs in the event. The event ended with the giving of books and a book-shelf to the jail. The deputy jailors of North Lakhimpur district Jail Debakamal Baruah and Bikash Singha, vice principal of LTK College Bidyut Chutia, professors of LTK College Rumi Dutta,Dr. Swapna Dutta, Biju Kumar Sonowal,Moromi Gohain,Swapnali Borgohain, Rinku Dutta,Diganta Kumar Saikia, Badan Kalita,Siladitya Dutta, Dr. Debajit Dutta,Monuj Neog, Dr. Bhaskarjit Borah and Chiranjib Chaolek were present in the ceremony. The event was anchored by the secretary of teachers' unit Prof. Manas Pratim Borah.
