Tinsukia, June 28: An extensive excise search, patrolling and raid were conducted on June 27 jointly by the Margherita and Digboi Excise Circle led by Prasanta Dutta, DSE, Margherita in Tingrai Railway Station under Digboi Police Station. The Excise team acted swiftly on a tip-off and arrested one Bitopan Pradhan, aged 28 years, son of Late Gantai Pradhan and Case no.DIG/EX/2022/672 dated June 27, was registered against the accused. As per the recorded statement, the accused confessed that liquor from Arunachal Pradesh was re-bottled in bottles earmarked for sale in Assam and sold to consumers. The accused managed to arrange the empty bottles and hologram from the local market. IMFL around 83.04 litres for sale in Arunachal Pradesh, empty bottles around 92 Nos (180ml in size) and 62 No.s of Hologram stickers were seized and destroyed by the department during the exercise.
