Pathsala, June 21: Bishnu Rabha Divas, celebrating the death anniversary of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha was observed on Tuesday across the state by various organizations and academic, socio-cultural institutions. The event was observed in a befitting manner at BHB College, Sarupeta marking the 54th death anniversary of the legendary cultural and literary icon whose great offerings have made a remarkable impact on the culture as well as the literature and intellectual domain of the state. The celebration began with lighting the ceremonial lamp before the portrait of Bishnu Prasad Rabha by Dr Nayan Jyoti Das, Principal of the college. Followed by an open meeting anchored by Preeti Rekha Dutta and presided over by Dr Nayan Jyoti Das. During his lecture, Dr. Das explained the great works of the Kalaguru and his influence in the social, cultural, moral, political and economical fields of Assam. Debananda Doley, Commanding officer, 48 NCC Bn. attended as a guest of honour, while Upendra Nath Barman, vice-principal, Mofazzal Hussain, HoD, Deptt. of History, Phanidhar Mech, IQAC coordinator attended the event as special guest.
They all emphasized on the life, ideology and works of Bishnu Rabha in front of the gathering. Dr. Nayan Jyoti Das, Principal BHB College; Upendra Nath Barman, Vice principal; Dr. Kalpana Baishya, HoD, Deptt of Assamese; Prabodh Kalita, Assistant Professor, Deptt of Economics; Preeti Rekha Dutta, Assistant Professor, Deptt of Assamese; Sumit Ghosh, Assistant Professor, Deptt. of Economics presented Rabha Sangeet and Nabamoni Saikia, Assistant Professor, Deptt. of English recited a poem of Kalaguru. Moreover Preeti Rekha Dutta and Sobita Tokbipi jointly performed a dance on Bishnu Rabha Sangeet. NCC cadets from various institutions of the state gathered here to attend the ongoing Combined Annual Training camp also attended the event and performed songs of the Kalaguru.
